Stunning 16hh ISH Black Mare

Extremely Smart Black mare, ISH, 6 years old. Athletic jump and scope to excel as a competition horse.

This mare was imported from Ireland, unbroken, as a 5 year old. She was broken in and sold to me shortly afterwards. I bought her with the sole intention of hunting her. I had some lessons on her and she proved willing and athletic over poles. I started Autumn hunting on her in late summer, she proved very keen but excitable and too strong for me; to give this context, I am a very small lady, barely 5 foot tall, in my 50's with Arthritis in my hands. I hunted her about eight times; she remained strong and excitable and I decided, sadly, that she was just too much for me. I have spent a lot of time with this mare, mainly hacking her out. She's a fantastic hack, she is forward and good in traffic - regularly crosses 'A' roads etc. She's great with vehicles and lives with donkeys, dogs and chickens running around her feet. She stands very patiently at the mounting block and doesn't nap happily going out alone or in company. She's stables well and also lives out. She benefits from regular turn out. She is excellent to catch, coming to call. She had some issues with the farrier - these have been resolved and she is regularly shod all round. Currently cold shod. She has excellent hooves, strong and well shaped. She also had issues on occasion with loading, this has been worked on and she now goes on well. Only traveled on a 3.5T lorry to date. I am genuinely fond of this mare, she's lovely in the stable and can be groomed etc. even whilst feeding. She's simply too much for me out hunting. She is also a horse that needs a job to do and would be suited to a more competitive home. She's a striking horse with lots of potential. She is an exciting prospect for a younger rider. Schooling and jumping have been neglected - I don't have an arena but she is currently away being professionally schooled to prepare her for her next chapter. Health: No Health Issues. No sarcoids. Passed Five Stage Vetting Dec '24. She had a couple of very old minor splints declared - these aren't visible or an issue in any way. Open to any further vetting. Up to date with teeth and all vaccinations. She's a fantastic horse, bright, forward and athletic. A good home is essential. Priced to sell. No loans considered. A difficult sale for me but I know she needs a more challenging life than I can offer her. Videos to follow.
