Groom/Housekeeper/Nanny

Busy, friendly family looking for a reliable, organised and pro active person to help with horses, home and children.

With all three of our children (14G, 12B, 12B) off at boarding school we have found ourselves at a crossroads in our childcare/household needs. Whilst our children are off at school we still have three horses and one extremely spoilt whippet — none of whom has shown the slightest inclination to leave home, get a job or become remotely self-sufficient. We are therefore looking for a Groom / Nanny / Housekeeper to join our busy family and help keep life running smoothly while we both work full-time in London. The role is wonderfully varied and would suit someone who: Genuinely loves horses and enjoys being involved in their daily care and management. Takes pride in a well-run, clean and organised yard and home — and can create order from the occasional chaos. Is happy to provide the necessary level of attention to a whippet who firmly believes he is number 1 in the house. Enjoys children, even when they are only occasionally present in person but somehow manage to generate an impressive amount of washing. Is practical, proactive and happy to get stuck in rather than waiting to be told what needs doing. Has a cheerful, can-do attitude and enjoys becoming part of a family rather than simply working in a house. The job: During term time (approximately 40 weeks a year), the role will be 25 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times. During the school holidays (approximately 12 weeks a year), this increases to 45 hours over 4 days. There may occasionally be additional hours for an overnight stay on a Tuesday or Thursday to look after the dog and horses when work commitments keep us in London. We are looking for someone who is: Organised and dependable — someone who knows where things are, ideally before we ask. Self-motivated and happy working independently — we won't be standing behind you with a clipboard. Experienced with horses and genuinely enjoys caring for them. Comfortable driving a 3.5-tonne horse lorry (you must be over 21 for insurance purposes). Happy to get stuck in and become part of a busy, active household. Someone who can balance horses, household organisation and children.
