WANTED – SERIOUS HUNTER

Looking for a quality gelding, ideally 16.1–16.3hh, aged 5–10, to hunt regularly. I’ve been MFH on the Welsh borders for nine seasons. Our in country is similar to Exmoor. I also visit neighbouring jumping packs eg. Ledbury & Wynnstay. I’m looking for a horse capable of doing the job properly. Brave with self preservation and sharp front legs are essentials. Must be happy to go first, make his own decisions and look after himself. Equally be mannerly enough to visit on and crucially, stand still and watch hounds. If you wouldn’t trust it to jump a hanging gate with you on board, please don’t ring. Likewise if it bounces on the spot, needs constant managing or can't open/close a gate without losing the plot it's not for me. Preference for something at the upper end of age range with some life experience and a proven track record hunting, Working Hunter, eventing or similar. I like a horse with blood and athleticism, but above all I want a good brain, common sense and genuine bravery. Needs some bone. No full TBs. I don’t mind some warmblood breeding, but particularly like a quality sport horse crossed with traditional Irish / Irish Draught blood. Well aware that horses like this are hard to come by. Appropriate budget for the right one, and a knowledgeable, long-term hunting home awaits. Current campaigner is 22 years old and still going.
