Stunning 5-year-old 18.1hh Irish Draught x Shire gelding. Professionally produced with an exceptional temperament.

A genuinely exciting young horse with exceptional breeding, a fantastic temperament and the education to go on and excel in any direction. Sid is a 5-year-old, 18.1hh Shire × Irish Draught gelding, offering the rare combination of enormous presence and substance with athleticism, movement and a genuine willingness to work. He is sired by the Class 1/C2 Irish Draught stallion Carrigfada Diamond, himself by Grosvenor Lad and out of a Glidawn Diamond mare — a very strong Irish Draught pedigree. His official Irish Draught documentation confirms his breeding and registration, with his certificate validated by the Irish Draught Horse Society. Sid has a full history known from birth, having been purchased directly from his breeder, and has been given a professional education throughout his ridden career. He was professionally broken and has been professionally schooled, and is now producing good-quality flatwork with plenty of scope to continue developing as he matures. For such a substantial horse, Sid is surprisingly athletic, forward and balanced, and has already shown himself to be much more than simply a big heavyweight. His education and experience includes: • Professionally broken and schooled • Works happily in a snaffle • Producing quality flatwork • Has popped coloured fences • Attended a South Durham Hunt pleasure ride, where he also popped fences and took the whole experience in his stride • Hacks confidently alone and in company • Good with traffic and farm machinery • Has worked away from home • Loads and travels well • Settles and behaves sensibly in new environments • Has been exposed to a variety of experiences for his age He has a sensible, genuine attitude to his work and is proving to be the type of young horse that can be taken somewhere new and get on with the job. Sid is still only 5 years old, and at 18.1hh he is continuing to mature, strengthen and fill out. He has a huge amount of potential ahead of him and would be an exciting horse for someone wanting to produce their own quality horse of a lifetime. His size and presence would make him an eye-catching prospect for the show ring, whilst his movement, athleticism and willingness give him the potential to pursue a number of disciplines. He could ultimately suit dressage, showing, jumping, hunting, eventing or simply being an exceptional all-round riding horse. Most importantly, Sid has the temperament, education and experience to make his size manageable. He is not an untouched giant who has simply been backed — he has been professionally produced and thoughtfully introduced to the world. At only five, he is a horse with a very exciting future rather than a finished product, giving his next owner the opportunity to continue his education and watch him develop into something very special. A rare opportunity to purchase an exceptionally large, well-bred young horse with the temperament, professional foundation and versatility to go in any direction. Please see video below
