Groom — Wiltshire

The yard (near Hungerford, Wiltshire) has 18 loose boxes in a purpose-built setting and currently cares for 10 horses, including a mix of thoroughbreds, cobs and small ponies. Accommodation is available if required. Key Responsibilities Provide daily care for the horses, maintaining high standards of welfare and promptly identifying any health concerns. Apply sound equine first-aid and veterinary knowledge when supporting horse care. Assist vets, chiropractors, dentists and farriers during visits. Report any issues clearly and promptly to the Head Groom. Keep stables and surrounding areas clean, tidy and safe. Tack up confidently and correctly. Ride to a competent standard as required. Carry out paddock maintenance. Assist riders on group hacks. Skills and Qualifications Confident rider with a good standard of riding. Experience clipping, trimming and turning out horses to a high standard. Full driving licence. Ability to tow a Cheval Liberté four-horse trailer, or willingness to undertake training on site. UKCC Level 2 qualification preferred, but not essential. BHSQ Level 2 Riding and Care preferred, but not essential. Salary and Benefits The successful applicant will receive a salary in the region of £28,000 per annum, subject to experience. The role is based on a five-day working week, including some weekends, with 28 days’ annual leave inclusive of bank holidays.
